atNorth brings IT specialist Fredrik Thörnesjö on board to boost on the ground team in Sweden and further the company’s growth in sustainable data center solutions across the Nordics

Stockholm, Sweden – December 15th 2022 atNorth, the leading pan-Nordic colocation, high-performance computing, and artificial intelligence service provider, has announced the appointment of Fredrik Thörnesjö as a Senior Account Manager. Fredrik joins the existing atNorth team at its new, state-of-the-art data center campus in Kista, Stockholm.

atNorth opened the new site in March 2022 in response to the increased demand for next generation High Performance Computing (HPC) data centers. It is the first data center of this scale in the Europe to be designed specifically for computationally heavy HPC workloads and heat reuse.

Fredrik brings extensive experience in sales and account management within the IT sector. His background has focused on the finance and educational technology areas of IT, where he has specialized in Cloud and software as a service (SaaS) solutions. He has worked at senior account management level at companies such as Visma Financial Solutions, Interxion and Itera Networks AB (now RG19).

We are very excited to welcome Fredrik to the atNorth team,” said Stefan Jofors-aTribe, Nordic Sales Director atNorth. Fredrik brings the right amount of industry specific experience and expertise to atNorth at a pivotal time for the company as we continue to expand across the region. He joins us at this exciting time in our journey as we continue to welcome new customers to atNorth and will undoubtedly be an invaluable addition to the team,” added Stefan.

Fredrik’s appointment comes off the back of several new hires and additions to the atNorth Board, as the company continues to expand its footprint across the Nordics in order to support its customers across the whole of Europe and beyond.

I am delighted to join the atNorth team — the industry is experiencing impressive growth and is at the forefront of innovation, which is extremely important and exciting,” said Fredrik Thörnesjö. This is a time where the need for high-performance computing solutions and colocation delivered in a sustainable way is critical — I am looking forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to atNorth and playing a role in our growth and expansion.”

Fredrik will be based at the Kista campus, working directly with Stefan Jofors-aTribe and the team in Stockholm to continue to raise awareness and support customers across the new site. The site is unique in that it has been built from the ground up to be scalable and flexible in order to cater to evolving market changes and customer needs, operating on renewable energy making it extremely energy efficient as well. With sustainability at the heart of atNorth’s operations, the center has also been designed and built to operate with the lowest carbon footprint possible, using efficient heat recovery for both air cooled and liquid cooled IT infrastructures. In addition, all the residual heat from the data center is recycled in collaboration with Stockholm Exergi, where the excess heat generated from the new data center is used to heat and provide hot water to approximately 20,000 homes.
