Company retreats are incredibly rewarding, creating a valuable space for connection and collaboration, though they are no easy feat to organize. And yet, it is one of the single most valued milestones of the year for a company like ours. At atNorth, our now 160+ strong workforce is distributed across several different regions – spanning the Nordics, Spain and further afield with our remote workforce. Setting time aside to come together as a company has proven to be one of the key ingredients to our business success.
atNorth’s people are crucial – we are a close-knit team and treat each other respectfully and kindly. Our teams are made up of people from within the data center industry specifically, as well as from outside the tech and IT sectors altogether. We believe in bringing true diversity to our company and have been fortunate to recognize and attract top talent and well-recognized individuals from different cultures and backgrounds with different outlooks, ideas, and skill sets to our business.
In September, we brought all these people – our people – together in Copenhagen for our annual company retreat. We got to meet our colleagues and teams in person, putting faces to names and getting to really know each other. We held interactive presentations and workshops, which presented a fantastic opportunity to dive deep into the many different facets of our organization – from engineering and operations to marketing and site selection – and we participated in some extremely fun team building activities.
One of the highlights of the week was certainly our all-company visit to our first data center in Denmark: DEN01. We started work on this site less than a year ago, and it has been amazing to watch how quickly it has developed. Set to go live early next year, we all got a sneak peek with a tour of this remarkable facility. This site has marked an important stop on our journey, as atNorth’s ninth data center and establishing our presence in four of the five Nordic countries. As we walked through the site, it was with absolute pleasure that I could see people’s reactions to experiencing the true scale and immeasurable possibilities of the site in action, and to hear the passion in their voices that we all share for the success of our business.
It’s by design that one of atNorth’s core values is empowering, and no surprise that this is one of the values that stood out as a key takeaway from this year’s retreat. From our workshop sessions, where the sheer brainpower and creativity in the room was explosive, to the raw excitement we got to see and feel for what the next year at atNorth brings. We are ready, we are motivated, and we are hot wired for success. 2025 will be exciting and next year’s retreat will undoubtedly be bigger and better.
I end with a tremendous thank you to each and every one of you that makes up the atNorth family – without you, our people, we wouldn’t be tackling some of the biggest challenges of the digital economy today. We’re incredibly proud to be stood together with all of you as we forge ahead on this unique atNorth journey, setting a new pace for the data center industry.
